JetBlue Airways Corp. (JBLU: Quote) reported that traffic in December increased 6.1 percent from December 2011, on a capacity increase of 6.1 percent.
The airline said its December 2012 traffic rose 6.1% to 2.87 billion revenue passenger miles or RPMs from 2.70 billion RPMs in the same period last year.
The airline’s December 2012 capacity was 3.58 billion available seat miles or ASMs, up 6.1% from 3.37 billion ASMs in the prior year period. Load factor for the month was 80.1%, down 0.1 points from 80.2% in the year ago month.
The airline’s preliminary completion factor was 99.6 percent and its on-time performance was 70.2 percent. The airline’s preliminary passenger revenue per available seat mile for the month of December increased two percent year over year.
For year-to-date period, the airline announced that its traffic increased 9.3% to 33.56 billion RPMs from 30.70 billion RPMs in last year.
The airline’s capacity for year-to-date period was 40.08 billion ASMs up 7.6% from 37.23 billion ASMs in the prior year period. Load factor for the period was 83.8%, an increase of 1.4 points from 82.4% in the prior year.
