The Czech Republic is having the second day of voting on Saturday to elect a president to replace the euro-skeptic Vaclav Klaus.
Most of the nine candidates, including a fully tattooed artist, are seen as more Europe-friendly than Klaus. The election, which is the first-ever held for the presidential post, started on Friday.
Following this primary round, if none of the candidates secure a majority, a second run-off between the top two candidates will be held after two weeks. Polls suggest former leftist Prime Ministers Milos Zeman and Jan Fischer are the favorites.
The post of the Czech president is largely ceremonial and Klaus is stepping down after 10 years in office. The main topics of focus during the election is the country’s role in the EU and widespread corruption.
