According to Marbridge Daily, Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU) and Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) are launching a new joint venture gaming experience called “Three Kingdoms,” an online-based MMO strategy game.
Both of the companies will be promoting the game: Sina via is Wanwan site and Qihoo through its Game Center. The deal is significant in that it would include the cross-promotion, event planning, and content development.
The duo are going up against the likes of Tencent and Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) for dominance of China’s social networking scene. Qihoo’s new search engine is competition for Baidu and it has made public comments about Tencent. Baidu might also be partnering with Kingsoft over a security software effort, typically Qihoo’s domain.
Sina’s Weibo micro-blogging service in also in competition with Tencent’s WeChat.
