Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could release an improved iPad 4 with 128GB of storage in the near future.
According to 9to5 Mac, their sources claim the new tablet won’t feature a new design or special colors just the black or white options. The report also claims it will come with either Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi + Cellular options just like all the previous iPads. It will also feature a premium SKU and come in 10-pack deals for schools and other educational institutions.
Since developers found a code that points toward the near release of iOS 6.1 which indicates there may be a device with 128GB.
After publishing the report, 9to5 Mac added the reported price ranges for the device which would be $799 and $929 for Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular devices respectively.
If this device is real, there is no word on when we can expect Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to officially release it. It’s also important to point out that even if the iPad with 128GB of storage does exist, it may have been designed exclusively for government agencies or other businesses for internal use which is something Apple has done before. However, the reported device doesn’t have any new features or specifications beyond the massive upgrade in storage that would indicate otherwise.
It’s also predicted that Apple will release another generation of iPads later on this year.
A revamped version of the iPad would definitely keep consumers interested in the popular tablet. Late last year, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) released the iPad 4 in traditional colors and specifications with some key upgrades. An upgraded version of the current iPad may fill the void until the next big thing comes around. If the upgraded iPad exists, it most likely will arrive early this spring.
The current iPad 4 comes in four storage capacities including 16GB, 32gb, and 64GB. The 128GB version would also be referred to as the ultimate.
