Yield is a topic that investors are perpetually interested in, which is especially true today given increasing concerns from fixed income investors regarding yield trends turning higher and the need for alternative ways to generate yield without stepping in front of a major headwind. One area that often goes overlooked from a yield perspective is the International Equity market. It is an asset class that offers ample opportunities for dividend income. Below is a snapshot of 40 International Country ETFs (including the S&P SPDRs (SPY)), ordered by dividend yield, which illustrates that exactly half of the names offer a higher dividend yield than does SPY. When looking for yield-related opportunities, remember that International Equities can be part of a broad yield strategy.
