NetFlix has rolled out an app for Windows 8 Phone devices with 720×1280 resolution screens. Previously, users would see black bars below and above their pictures on the screen. However, there have been devices like the Nokia Lumia 920 that have already been provided full-screen Net Flix support owing to their superior resolutions.
Now, devices like HTC 8X will receive this new update, which will allow users to enjoy high quality video on their 720p displays. Users will be pleased to learn that there will no longer be any black bars on top of their screens that have been ruining their mobile-video experience.
The move comes as a huge boost for Windows phone, as handsets powered by the mobile OS struggle to compete against the likes of Google’s and Android and Apple’s iOS.
Though there is still no support for HD streaming of videos, users should be more than happy with these new changes, which makes videos look pretty good.
This update from Netflix can now be downloaded on devices running Windows Phone 7.8 and 8.
