Assicuracioni Generali (ARZGY) has approached Brightsphere Investment Group (BSIG) about a possible acquisition, Reuters reports, citing people familiar with the matter. There is no certainty, however, that Generali will be able to meet the valuation expectations for Brightsphere of its largest shareholder, hedge fund Paulson & Co., sources told Reuters. Shares of BrightSphere are up 13% to $11.36 following the report.
