You may have heard about NIO Inc (NYSE: NIO), the Chinese electronic car manufacturer whose stock is up nearly 400% in price-per-share this year.

You may have seen this stock in headlines, on television… maybe it’s even on your personal watchlist.

This is one of NIO’s products… Do you find it appealing?

Souce: nio.com

Regardless, NIO has been a standout in unusual call option activity in 2020.

Just last week, a big-money option player came in and bought…

NIO August 7 10 Calls
A $275,000 Purchase

On an $11 stock..

This means that this option player was willing to bet $275,000 that NIO increases even more in price-per-share by August 7 at the very latest…

As if nearly a 400% increase in price-per-share in 2020 isn’t good enough for them!

Just so you know, a position of that size isn’t something I see too often on stocks trading under $20/share.

NIO Daily Chart

An important technical lesson to take away from the chart above is that after spending a few days in overbought territory, NIO has pulled back to its 20-day simple moving average line support (green line above) and could be poised for a pop – maybe as soon as today.

While I do know the buyers are out on NIO August 7 10 Calls, NIO has seen a tremendous amount of unusual call option activity in 2020, so I may consider trading a different option contract.

It’ll depend on where the biggest money flow can be found.

And if I make a move on it…

I’ll be sure to let you know.
