Cornbread Hemp co-founder talks Kentucky legalization, challenges, opportunities, and more
In this edition of “Rising High,” The Fly conducted an exclusive interview with Jim Higdon, co-founder of Cornbread Hemp, a Kentucky-based USDA certified organic premium CBD brand. Here are some of the highlights:
FULL-SPECTRUM, USDA ORGANIC: Cornbread Hemp was founded by cousins and native Kentuckians Eric Zipperle and Jim Higdon in 2018. After identifying a lack of CBD companies making high-quality full spectrum products, the cousins set out to launch USDA organic CBD oils made from Kentucky-grown hemp. “CBD is a competitive landscape,” Higdon said. “The good thing for Cornbread is that, generally speaking, the competition is mass-produced, white-label and corporate-driven with inauthentic branding and low-quality products.” He cited Cornbread Hemp’s focus on full-spectrum, Flower-Only extraction and USDA certified organic status as three particular qualities that distinguish the company. “The market position for Cornbread as a premium product, that is certified organic and leaning into as much THC as we can include in products as allowed by law, has really opened the door for Cornbread to grow and gain market share in the competitive landscape,” he added.
