NEW RELEASES: This week’s major video game release is “Elden Ring,” an action role-playing game published by Bandai Namco and developed by “Dark Souls” studio FromSoftware. The title, whose story was co-written by “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin, launches February 25 for PC, PlayStation 4 (SONY), PS5, Xbox Series X/S (MSFT), and Xbox One. Also out this week is Bungie’s “Destiny 2: The Witch Queen,” the latest expansion for popular multiplayer shooter “Destiny,” which launches on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbos Series X/S, and Google Stadia (GOOGL) on February 22. The Fly notes that Bungie recently agreed to be acquired by Sony.
ACTIVISION PROBES: Investigations by federal and state regulators into Activision Blizzard’s (ATVI) leadership and how they handled workplace misconduct claims have widened recently, the Wall Street Journal’s Kirsten Grind reported late last week. The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing has subpoenaed Activision’s directors related to the company’s handling of the workplace issues and has also subpoenaed police departments in the Los Angeles area for any records they have related to CEO Bobby Kotick and 18 other current and former Activision employees, according to people and to documents viewed by The Wall Street Journal.
