Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs Stolen In Instagram Hack

Several %BoredApeYachtClub non-fungible tokens (%NFTs) worth a combined $2.5 million U.S. have been stolen in an Instagram hack.

A hacker reportedly got into the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Instagram account and posted a link to a supposed airdrop that would give existing Bored Ape NFT holders a free allotment of land in the metaverse.

However, when people clicked on the link, their Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs were stolen from their cryptocurrency wallets.

In all, four Bored Ape Yacht Club, six Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and three Bored Ape Kennel Club NFTs were stolen in the hack. The total theft has been estimated at $2.5 million U.S.

Bored Ape Yacht Club is the original NFT collection created by Yuga Labs and each one currently sells for between $40,000 U.S. and $430,000 U.S.

OpenSea, the world’s biggest NFT marketplace, has put a “suspicious activity” label on the stolen Bored Ape products in an effort to help recover them. However, there are online reports that many of the NFTs have already been sold by the hacker who stole them.
