China’s Ministry of Commerce is launching an investigation into Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger parent PVH for suspected violations of market trading principles related to Xinjiang products, such as cotton, The New York Times’ Keith Bradsher reports. PVH is being targeted for allegedly avoiding purchases from the region where the Chinese government has cracked down on Muslim minorities, according to the report, which adds that the company has 30 days to provide documents to China’s Ministry of Commerce regarding whether it had avoided buying from Xinjiang. PVH said in a statement that it is in communication with the Chinese Ministry of Commerce: “PVH maintains strict compliance with all relevant laws and regulations in all countries and regions in which we operate.”
